Congratulations to our 3rd Grade Performers!

Congratulations to our 3th grade students for their AMAZING Theater Arts performances at Friday Assembly on May 27. Each 3rd grade class performed 2 Native American creation myths for an audience of friends, teachers, and family.  “This year 3rd grade students will be focusing on learning and understanding acting skills and techniques instead of focusing on a HUGE class production.” says Ryan O’Donnell, Dixie’s new Theater Arts Instructor. “The kids will really learn the art of storytelling through the acting basics like voice and gesture. They will carry the show.”  Super acting 3rd graders! Our hats-off to our Ryan O’Donnell for his innovative approach to teaching drama this year!

Our entire 3rd grade opened their Theater Arts performance with a Native American Song.

Become a Dixie Art Council Parent Volunteer and join in the fun! You can help produce some of our favorite annual performances and assemblies; as seen below. For more infomation, contact Maya Bartolf.

Story to Stage:

Myths & Monsters

Afterschool Enrichment

Dixie students grades 1st through 5th will create and perform their own original short plays based on the theme of Myths & Monsters! Theyʼll play games that stretch the body, voice, and imagination. Classes will cover such subjects as playing characters, storytelling and playwriting, improvisation, and acting. Drama increases self-esteem, encourages teamwork, and inspires creativity.

The instructor will be a professional teaching artist from Marin Theatre Company, the North Bayʼs premiere theatre.

Students and families will be invited to a special class performance on stage at MTCʼs Lieberman Theatre!
