The Dixie Friday Fest enjoyed the jazz tunes performed by the very gifted 8th grader, Thea Cristman, and Mike Schulist her piano accompanist and teacher of the Miller Creek Middle School’s Jazz Ensemble. What a way to end a busy week! Our hats-off to Lynnsey Urbaitel for organizing the Fests! Thanks to DHSC for the yummie popcorn!

tudent pianist of the Month highlights a Famous Composer with Ms. Carol.

Our Composer of the Week program is headed by our very own Ms. Carol, who plays the piano to transition the students’ classroom behavior into their audience behavior at Friday Assembly. Once a month she invites a Dixie student to join her in playing piano to highlight a famous Composer or period of music for appreciation during assembly. Matthew Barker, a 3rd grade student in Ms. Osterman’s class,  brilliantly played the theme of The Pink Panther for the finger snapping assembly audience this April. Thank you Matthew for sharing your musical gifts with your fellow students and teachers! If your inspired pianist would like to play at assembly in the coming months, please email  Ms. Carol. In April, our 5th Grade Band played at the Dixie District Band Festival at Miller Creek Middle School. They joined the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands and Jazz ensembles from Miller Creek Middle School for an evening of music and community.
